After a lifetime of vacationing in the wilderness of northern New England and traveling throughout the United States hiking and communing with nature, our founder and his family became increasingly concerned with land development in environmentally sensitive places and preventing the continuous loss of natural habitats. The creation of the Legacy Land Society is the result of their desire to actively do something significant to preserve land and open space for future generations to enjoy and protect the ecosystems of endangered species.
The primary purpose of the Legacy Land Society is the acquisition and preservation of natural land in the New England region of the USA through supporting existing land owners and the direct acquisition of land by the Society itself to maintain the land as open space.
Future Projects & Allowable Uses of Preserved Land:
Sustainable farming initiatives especially in urban environments. Tree planting projects to increase overall carbon sequestration. Environmentally friendly outdoor uses that allow access with minimal impact on the existing ecosystem.
What we do with your sponsorship dollars:
Revenues from your sponsorship or “naming” of land are carefully allocated to causes, groups, and organizations you care about. Supporting revenue is shared between participating land owners, land preservation programs and acquisition projects, sustainable land use, carbon sequestration initiatives, and qualified participating fundraising organizations. The Legacy Land Society dedicates 100% of our net revenues towards these goals.
